Mark M. Middleton is of counsel with the firm's Governmental and Litigation Practice Groups. Mr. Middleton is an "AV" rated attorney who focuses his practice primarily in the areas of governmental relations and regulatory representation.  He brings a variety of government experience to the practice of law, including his former position as a Hearing Officer at the Georgia Public Service Commission and his work as Department of Education (DOE) Chief of Staff. As a PCS Hearing Officer, Mr. Middleton conducted administrative hearings regarding telecommunications, transportation, and energy.  As the DOE Chief of Staff, he was responsible for all administrative functions of the Department, including direct supervision of the legal, legislative, public relations, personnel, procurement, and budgetary staffs.
Mr. Middleton has a broad background in both corporate and litigation matters.  As a governmental relations representative, he has represented clients with diverse interests, including education, insurance, telecommunications, technology procurement, utility regulation, and general legislative matters. Mr. Middleton has represented clients before the Georgia General Assembly, the Georgia Department of Insurance, and the Public Service Commission. He has also been active in local politics, providing legal and policy advice to candidates for governor and other state and local offices.  Currently, he serves as General Counsel to Brian Kemp's campaign for Georgia Secretary of State.Â
Mr. Middleton is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law and is a licensed attorney in the State of Georgia. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
Mr. Middleton stays active in the community by serving on various educational and church boards and committees. Â He lives in suburban Atlanta with his wife and three children.
