James L. Roberts, IV is a partner in the firm's Litigation and Governmental Practice Groups. Mr. Roberts has extensive experience in numerous types of litigation, with a particular focus on commercial and employment litigation. His experience also extends to toxic torts, personal injury, medical malpractice, products liability, commercial, construction, fiduciary, and real estate litigation at both the trial and appellate level. In addition to litigation, Mr. Roberts has experience advising clients in employment and risk management issues. He has also developed extensive experience in complex litigation and has served as counsel in numerous class and collective actions.
Mr. Roberts is admitted to practice law in the State of Georgia as well as before the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh and Federal Circuits.
Mr. Roberts earned his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law and his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Georgia. Prior to joining the firm, he clerked for the Honorable Anthony A. Alaimo in the Southern District of Georgia.
Jay was named "Rising Star" for 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010 by Super Lawyer Magazine.
An active member of the State Bar, he has served on the Judiciary and Professionalism Committees of the Georgia Bar and has been active in the Young Lawyer’s Division where he served as the Southern District Representative for Brunswick. He has served as Treasurer and Secretary of the Glynn County Bar Association and serves his community by acting as a Board Member for the United Way of Coastal Georgia and the Southeast Georgia Health System Ethics Committee.
Mr. Roberts is married to Laura Elizabeth Roberts and is a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. He and Laura have two sons, Jack and T.G.
