Theresa D. Beaton

Theresa D. Beaton practices in the firm's Litigation group. Her litigation practice focuses on all aspects of trial and negotiation, representing both corporations and individuals in an effort to efficiently and effectively resolve their legal disputes. Ms. Beaton also works on Trust and Estate matters.

Ms. Beaton is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, where she served as Editor in Chief of the Georgia Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. Her student Note, entitled Not Just for Kids: Why Georgia's Statutory Disinheritance of Deadbeat Parents Should Extend to Intestate Adults, was published at 43 Ga. L. Rev. 867 (2009). While in law school, she was also the Faculty Hiring Student Chair and a Dean's Ambassador. After law school, Ms. Beaton worked as a judicial clerk to The Honorable Lisa Godbey Wood, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia, in Brunswick, Georgia.

Ms. Beaton also holds a B.A. with distinction from the University of Virginia, where she double-majored in Government and French. At UVA, she was involved in numerous service and community activities, and studied abroad in Lyon, France.

Ms. Beaton is married to Ernest L. "Chip" Beaton IV of Fernandina Beach, Florida. She volunteers her time with local organizations such as the Salvation Army, and is a member of First Baptist Church of St. Simons Island. Ms. Beaton was selected to participate in the State Bar of Georgia's Young Lawyers Division Leadership Academy for 2012.
